Lalit Kundani is a trial attorney, former prosecutor, and legal commentator. Since co-founding Kundani & Chang LLP, Mr. Kundani focuses his practice on criminal defense, personal injury, and business and estate planning.

A former Deputy District Attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, Mr. Kundani prosecuted a number of high-profile cases including those garnering international headlines. His cases were featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, CNN, and Forbes. Mr. Kundani tried numerous jury trials to verdict, including murders, gang-related shootings, kidnappings, and robberies, with an impressive felony conviction rate of 97%. His accomplishments earned him accolades from various law enforcement agencies including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Department of Defense.

Following his tenure at the District Attorney's Office, Mr. Kundani was a trial lawyer at Panish Shea & Boyle, LLP, a nationally recognized plaintiff's law firm that has obtained some of the most significant jury verdicts and settlements in United States history on behalf of plaintiffs. Mr. Kundani dedicated his time there to representing victims of negligence, whether arising from motor vehicle accidents to product defect cases to wrongful death cases. After favorable results through trial and settlement, he has recovered millions of dollars for his clients in lawsuits alleging negligence and wrongdoing against both individuals and corporations.

People v. Mahaffey (2007)
The trial of a popular, local P.T.A. president for fraud and identity theft of victims nationwide, wherein Mr. Kundani obtained convictions across the board.

People v. Muhammad, et al. (2010)
A massive multi-county investigation, led by Mr. Kundani, involving over a dozen state and federal agencies, which culminated in the indictment and convictions of eight gang members, and their associates, for a conspiracy involving over one hundred different robberies.

People v. Deng (2011)
The highly publicized prosecution by Mr. Kundani of a Chinese national, who captured international headlines after self-appointing himself the "Supreme Commander" of a phony United States Army unit and defrauding recruits with false promises of American citizenship.

Defending a high-ranking Indian government official (2013)
Against the United States Department of Homeland Security, Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, wherein all aggravated charges against Mr. Kundani's client were ultimately dropped.

Traumatic Brain Injury
Obtaining a $7.25 million settlement on behalf of a client who was rear-ended in the city of Whittier after a runaway truck lost control of its brakes, leaving the victim with traumatic brain injuries.

Client v. County of Ventura
Procuring a $3.2 million settlement against the County of Ventura after a sheriff's deputy plowed into a truck driven by Mr. Kundani's client, even though the initial police report found Mr. Kundani's client to be at fault.

Worker's Compensation
Obtaining over a $4 million settlement against a construction company after one of its workers was injured after falling down a beam.

Trip and Fall
Procuring almost a $2 million settlement in a trip and fall case outside of a Pomona restaurant.

Motorcycle Accident
Obtaining a $700,000 settlement on behalf of an injured motorcyclist who was hit by a truck in the middle of a roadway.

Bicycle v. Auto Accident
Achieving a $575,000 settlement on behalf of a bicyclist who was hit by a car, though the police report initially held the bicyclist responsible.

Mr. Kundani has appeared both on local radio stations like KFI AM 640 as well as on The Huffington Post, where he provides legal commentary on a range of popular topics. He has also provided training to local, state, and national law enforcement agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the California Gang Investigator's Association.

Mr. Kundani began his legal career working as an associate at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, an Am Law 100 national defense firm and one of the oldest Wall Street based firms in the nation, where he specialized in representing banking and financial institutions in matters involving class action litigation. In addition, Mr. Kundani also advises individual clients, businesses, and nonprofit associations on matters involving estate planning, corporate entity structures, employment issues, as well as contract negotiation and drafting.

Mr. Kundani graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with departmental highest honors in Political Science and went on to graduate from UC Berkeley (Boalt Hall) School of Law, where he served as the President of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) and Captain of the Texas Young Lawyer's Association (TYLA) trial team. He was the recipient of the William Lloyd Prosser Prize in Financial Analysis and received Highest Honors in Estate Planning. He also served as a judicial extern in the chambers of the Honorable Richard A. Paez on the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, as well as the Legislative Intern in Sacramento for the Honorable Governor Gray Davis.

Mr. Kundani is an active member of his community and is the legal advisor to several organizations including the UCLA Bhangra Team and Bruin Bhangra, one of the largest intercollegiate dance competitions in the United States, which he co-founded while he was in college. He is married and lives in Orange County with his wife and daughter.
