May of 1991, Ms. Debra Jennings founded her own law firm, Law Office of Debra Jennings P.L.L.C, whose primary areas of practice is civil rights—(employment discrimination, race, sex, national origin, religion, disability and sexual harassment), contract, probate and civil litigation. She is currently admitted to practice law in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division and practices law in the State and Federal Courts of Texas.
A trial litigator, Jennings handles cases in both the trial and appellate courts. She has tried cases successfully against Fortune 500 Corporations and state agencies that invariably hire major law firms in cases against Jennings.
In 1996, Jennings formed her own sports agency, Pro Vision Sports in Houston, Texas. Jennings was certified as contract advisor (agent), by the National Football League Player’s Association and the Women's National Basketball Player's Association. Jennings is currently certified by the National Basketball Player’s Association. She was a member of several sports committees including the Lombardi Award Executive Committee--an award given to the Best Offensive Lineman, Linebacker and Defensive Lineman in college football, and the Smith Award Committee, which is given to the best player in college basketball. Jennings has participated in KCOH sports radio talk shows in Houston and was selected amongst several NFLPA certified football agents to speak at the University of Southern Mississippi Agent Day for football players pursuing an NFL career.
Jennings is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Committed to community engagement, Jennings has served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of Lawndale Art and Performance Gallery, volunteer attorney for Mock Trial competition for aspiring lawyers at South Texas College of Law and volunteer attorney for her Houston church, Wheeler Avenue Baptist (Rev. William A. Lawson, Emeritus and Marcus D. Cosby, Senior Pastor) and a mentor for young girls in the Transformation program at Wheeler. Jennings is a member of 31st Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of the Rev. Samuel R. Thompson when she is in Meridian.
Jennings’ hobbies include playing tennis, running marathons, and participating in organized walks benefiting breast cancer, diabetes, hypertension, AIDS and the American Cancer Society; dancing, traveling, theatre and live music.
