Attorney Myra Hamilton was selected in 2017 as a Top 100 National Black Lawyer and in 2018 she has been selected as a Top 100 National Advocate Employment Attorney.  Attorney Hamilton proudly accepted her selection in 2017 of a “Woman of Excellence” by the New Tri-State Defender Newspaper for being recognized as a woman in the Metropolitan Memphis area that is a visionary in the field of Employment and Labor Law and who works to inspire those around her through her words and actions.  In 2018, Attorney Hamilton has also been selected by Inside Business Magazine as a POWER PLAYER Employment and Labor Attorney in the business community. Myra has been selected and recognized as a Power Player Attorney for the last eight consecutive years, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011.  Attorney Myra Hamilton is a proud graduate of Melrose High School, where she was selected as “Miss Melrose”, Editor of the Yearbook and an Honor Graduate. She graduated from Virginia Union University where she was voted President of her Freshman Class, studied abroad at the University of the West Indies in Kingston Jamaica and graduated with honors.  Attorney Hamilton graduated from Texas Southern, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she made the Dens List, was on Law Review and selected for two Judicial Interns, one with the Chief Judge of the United States Claims Court in Washington DC and for the Federal District Court in Houston Texas. Myra is listed on the Attorney Referral List with the United States EEOC, listed as a Top North American Professional by American Registry and selected on multiple occasions as a “Woman to Watch” by Memphis Magazine. Attorney Hamilton has an excellent rating an “Pro” listing as an Employment and Labor Attorney by avvo.com.  Myra has served as a member on the American Bar Association Center for Racial and Ethnic Diversity forum and served on the American Bar Association Presidential Advisory Council on Diversity.

In terms of Attorney Hamilton’s business community service activity or organizational involvement, she has been recognized for her legal pro bono service within the community when she was selected and listed on the Pro Bono Honor Roll listed by the Tennessee Bar Association serving as a Pro Bono Attorney in the Courthouse Advice & Counsel Clinic and for her participation in the Saturday Legal Aid Clinic all sponsored by the Memphis Bar Association. Attorney Hamilton was awarded the Legends Award by the Melrose High School Alumni for providing legal service in the Community.

Attorney Hamilton has mentored Law School graduates waiting to pass the bar, served as a member of the Bar that motions or presents new law students who successfully passed the bar to the court during their swearing in ceremony, created a women’s group called “Sister Sister” that provides for spiritual navigation of everyday life challenges.  Attorney Hamilton is a former AmeriCorps Director where she trained college graduates in their efforts to provide community services to some of the most economically impoverished communities including tutoring. Attorney Hamilton provides free mentoring to young entrepreneurs starting a business and participates in local neighborhood business fairs and church legal clinics. Attorney Hamilton teaches continuing legal education seminars for National Business Institute on Human Resources/Employment Law for HR professionals and attorneys.
