Ms. Cook is considered an expert in family immigration, waivers, deportation (removal) defense, consular processing, asylum and naturalization law. She has extensive experience litigating immigration cases in the Federal Courts. She has defended scores of people in Immigration Court and helped hundreds of people obtain U.S. residency through family members. She represented the named petitioner in Castro-Cortez v. INS, 239 F. 3d 1097 (9th Cir 2001), an important case involving due process and reinstatement of removal.

A graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, she has been a member of the State Bar of California since 1988. She obtained her bachelor's Degree from San Diego State University. Ms. Cook is admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Northern Districts of California, the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals and in all locations of the Executive Office for Immigration Review, including Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.

Having lived in Spain, Colombia and Honduras, Ms. Cook is fluent in Spanish. She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and currently serves as Liaison to the Fresno office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for AILA's Northern California Chapter. She has been a presenter at seminars for other attorneys and legal workers for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the Bay Area, the Immigrant Legal Resource Center and the Bar Association of San Francisco. Ms. Cook has worked closely with the Mexican Consulate in Fresno, the Deferred Action Help Center and faculty members from California State University Fresno in community outreach and assisting Valley young people with applying for Deferred Action (DACA) benefits. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Centro La Familia Advocacy Services.
